Program Introduction


Based on the educational platform - “SIVA· Detao Advanced Class” is collectively created by Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) and Detao. The program is leaded by Kim Jarrett and Tina Hart, who are world famous designers in landscape design and themed environment, the designers of NZ Pavilion Roof-top Garden World Trade Expo-Shanghai 2010 and DeTao masters in landscape and themed environment design, with the international teaching team and teachers from Shanghai Institute of Visual Art.


Training Goals


By the end of our degree, students will have developed flexible knowledge and effective, practical problem solving skills. They will improve lateral thinking and get self-directed in their learning with effective collaboration skills. They will be well motivated and aware of the most recent international innovations in their fields. They will be able to easily work within wide range of fields including Interior and Exterior Themed Environments.


Curriculum Description

 

Themed Environment Design refers to the comprehensive design of landscape architecture, which integrates historical, cultural or modern themes. It consists of exterior and interior design. The story of the themed environment is vital to design. This course aims at enhancing students' understanding of 3D themed environment design and construction, to cultivate their sensibility, creativity and green design concept on the basis of students' basic skills training. We lay emphasis on students' cooperation, organization and management in real themed environment design projects. Diligence, pragmatism and good work ethic is our unremitting pursuit.

 

Career Prospective

 

Upon graduation, students will be able to enter many design fields like themed restaurants, entertainment centers, museums, shopping malls, cultural facilities, recreation facilities, hotels and resorts, brand fields, scientific centers, cultural landscapes, themed parks, universities, natural scenic spots, resort gardens, sculpture parks, city centers, sports parks, cultural and historical parks, private themed gardens, botanical gardens, etc.

We put importance on students' basic skills, their critical thinking, creative vision and communication skills as well as their perception of art.
