Course Description


Prof. Anne Hamburger offers Chinese artists a course about drama on specific sites in the 21st century. Students can not only watch specific drama shows produced by Prof. Hamburger and other theatre artists over the course, but also have an opportunities to gain hands-on experience and to catch up to the drama development in advanced countries such as America. Scriptwriter, director, performer or designer – no matter what your background is, your theory and practical skills will be enhanced after this course. Your drama production will be distinctive from now on.

Prof. Anne Hamburger is a cultural entrepreneur and producer and the President of Big Heart Theatrical, LLC that creates and produces Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre, site-specific theatre and multi-media experiences. She was the founder and artistic director of En Garde Arts, a renowned not-for-profit site-specific theatre company in New York, the Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse, an esteemed regional theatre, and an Executive Vice President for a global division for Disney. Being the Artistic Director of the La Jolla Playhouse, she gave the creators of Spring Awakening the opportunity to create their first workshop and produced Thoroughly Modern Millie that went on to win a Tony Award for Best Musical on Broadway. In addition, En Garde Arts’work received six Obies, an Outer Critics Circle Award and two Drama Desk Awards in her tenure as Artistic Director. She, herself, was recognized with the Edwin Booth and Lee Reynolds Awards for the impressive body of her work.
