Landscape Artworks——Artworks of Landscape

Course Description

Art is closely related to sceneries, while sceneries are closely linked to human culture. In other words, human history is inseparable from landscapes. Storytelling is an effective way to integrate culture into landscape. Stories shape the world through history, mythologies and legends. Similarly, we can use stories to shape artwork and landscape. When we are looking at a space or a place, a lot of questions pop up in our minds: Long time ago, what did it look like? What was its geological condition? What types of plants and animals lived there? What kind of human lived there? What did they do? What is the significant of this type of artwork? During the course, most questions will be answered.

The three principles throughout the whole course, in other words, three stages of learning are: conception, design and realization. Students will identify, analyse and solve problems during the practice process. You will learn how to complete a real-life project creatively, how to show the creativity of the design, and how to study, sketch and make models based on your ideas. Meanwhile, you will also learn how to work as a team, how to create your own product, and how to effectively deliver your thoughts to real-life customers.

This course will adopt brand new teaching mode and overthrow traditional methods. In the process of learning, we will divide students into large groups for teamwork and small groups for effective communication. When cooperating closely with Prof. Tina Hart and Prof. Kim Jarrett, students can participate in actual projects and gain first-hand experience.
