Introduction to Creative Movie Development and Marketing

Course Description


This course, Introduction to Creative Movie Development and Marketing, is an adventure of innovation. Students, acting as staff of a media company, will communicate and conduct activities in groups in simulated scenarios. Creative activities, from basic story line, marketing to film production, will be organized by each group of students.

During the course, students will be divided into different groups: first write scripts, then develop marketing strategies in regard to target audiences, film posters, etc.

Outstanding graduates in media or film studies with bachelor’s degree or higher.
Young professionals currently working in film and entertainment industry.

Master Introduction
Jason E. Squire


Jason E. Squire is Associate Professor at the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California and, since 2012, Visiting Professor and Director, Study Center of the Hollywood Industrial System at Beijing Film Academy. He is editor of The Movie Business Book, the field’s primary textbook, and the “International Third Edition” global rollout includes Chinese, English, Japanese and Spanish. Prof. Squire worked as an executive for 20th Century-Fox and has written for The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and appeared on CBS, CCTV, CNN, NPR, Newsweek On Air, PSB (Korea) and NHK (Japan). His recent USC case studies have included STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, THE AVENGERS, GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, SUPER 8, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, STAR TREK and IRON MAN.
